This pic right here is one of the many things that constantly drives me to be successful. That’s my mom, pregnant and sick with me, her 4th child. Her husband dying of brain cancer, the whole family living in a green VW camper bus down by the river during our temporary homeless stint. She was just rolling with the punches. Making everything into an exciting adventure. When I was about 5 yrs old, my dad was recovering from his first brain tumor and in order to feed the family he did mobile car stereo installs and delivered pizzas. Some days he was so sick from chemo therapy that he couldn’t even get out of bed, that’s when my mom would step in and go do the stereo installs instead. Picture my mom; driving a beat to hell pick-up truck with a Domino’s pizza delivery sign on the roof, showing up at some sketchy spot downtown to install a used car stereo. Talk about one badass woman. This is the epitome of my mom's life. She is well versed in the language of trials, yet her life has been nothing short of a beautiful imperfect masterpiece. She makes the most of every day and every situation. Her goal in life was to raise her kids well enough that she would eventually work herself out of a job. She thinks she did that. Little does she know, her role as a mother and grandmother is as imperative as ever right now. She is everybody's best friend and she somehow manages to spread her presence and time abundantly amongst each of us! • Heavens gates better be wide open to accept @lisatsparks, if not, she’ll kick em open anyways. This woman somehow convinced me that I could do ANYTHING. Seriously, I remember wanting to drop out of a very difficult automotive electrical class that I was struggling with during my senior year. She wouldn’t let me. She just told me that I needed to do hard things and that as soon as I accepted that, I would do well. She was right. These days I do a lot of hard things on a daily basis and don’t even think twice about it. My success is directly tied to my mom’s bullheaded persistence and confidence in me. I’m eternally grateful for this saint of a woman.
